| WDS-IPO and WDS-ITO: What a week WDS had in Asheville, North Carolina! We are thankful to have attended the 2024 July ESIP Meeting and the opportunity to network with WDS members and learn about current projects and developing research within Earth Data. Congratulations to WDS-ITO Associate Director, Reyna Jenkyns, for presenting two sessions at ESIP! Sessions one and two are now available to watch on the ESIP YouTube channel.
H.O.P.E. – History of People of ESIP: ESIP celebrated its 25th Anniversary in 2023. FUNding Friday is the ESIP micro-funding event. Dr. Wade Bishop's pitch from the 2023 FUNding Friday was to work on a story to capture oral histories from ESIP community participants. What came to fruition was HOPE, the History of People of ESIP. For ESIP 2024, two student journalists collected 25 oral stories from ESIP attendees to capture unique perspectives from individuals who previously attended ESIP. From Dr. Wade Bishop, "The HOPE job is to catch the story of the people and stuff that make this group what it is. The world always needed our help. This year, let us look back into the past to see all we have done, how we got here, and also look forward in time to what else may be possible." Read more stories from FUNding Friday here. |
